Lori, born in Guam was the first girl born in the United States that year also lived in Hawaii, Texas, Virginia, Maryland, Wyoming, & West Virginia: now calls West Virginia home. After never taking an art class in elementary, middle or high school she was substantially a self taught artist in waiting.
RIGHT BRAIN – LEFT BRAIN
Determined to stay out of poverty, Lori pursued college education and in 3 ½ years received 3 Bachelors Degrees: Business Administration, Computer Programming and Accounting from West Virginia University Institute of Technology. Once in the world of a Public Accounting Career, she then pursued and received her Certified Public Accounting License making her only 1 out of 2% of all those who attempted the CPA exam in West Virginia that year.
After completing ½ of her Masters in Business Administration Lori pursued yet another addition to her busy life: Motherhood. The birth of her Son and then her daughter that followed two years later, Lori’s career emphasis redirected from Public Accounting to Private Accounting which then settled on co-ownership of an Engineering Firm with her fantastic and supportive Husband: Todd.
Residing with a comfortable success in the world of numbers, business, and executive management atmosphere as well as two incredible children, Lori decided it was time to take her self-taught skills in art to its next level and study under professional artists. Lori took the senior painting and drawing, design and arts management classes from West Virginia State University under a well known artist: Paula Clendenin.
“Paula had a true gift of teaching the artist to bring out their own personal creative abilities and forgo creating mini-me’s in her form of talent. I highly respect Paula and thoroughly enjoyed learning under her watchful eye.”
Masters from the College of Fine Art at MARSHALL UNIVERSITY
A Masters Degree at Marshall University became Lori’s next mountain to climb. Fitting classes in her schedule of full-time job of Chief Financial Officer as well as raising two teenagers, Lori’s dreams began to come into reality. Fall of 2006, Lori received her Masters in Art at “We Are Marshall” University. “I am so honored and blessed to have painted under such a great Oil Painter: Professor Stan Sporny who I will forever admire and thank for helping me realize my hearts true calling – Oil Painting!” Lori also trained in sculpture and in drawing. “I am so grateful to Professor Michael Cornfeld for coming out of retirement from teaching drawing and independent studying my drawing skills, his drawing talents are amazing and I am honored to have studied under such talent.”
